Origin fix implanted in Porting Kit with latest update!

For the people who didn't know it yet, the latest Porting Kit update 2.4.40 has a fix for the Origin launch/install issue which appeared a few weeks ago with the latest update of Origin. This issue has been fixed 3 October with the latest update.

Other fixes in the Porting Kit update are:
- Fixed: Wineskin App won't mistake ports Mac Driver with X11
- Fixed: You have the option to skip a DRM installation if it can't be installed
- Fixed: Origin ports now should only use the Windows 7 operational system with the Origin.exe executable
- Added: The user can check the CrossOver alternative for ports
- Fixed: Only the right click menus show the action button
- Fixed: Won't receive an error in the end of expansion pack installations anymore

So make you have the latest update of Porting Kit and Reinstall the origin port in this case. This fix is especially important t play great old classics as Red Alert 2, C&C 3 Tiberian Wars, Red Alert 3, Generals and C&C Renegade which are part of the C&C Ultimate Collection which is very cheap on Instant Gaming.

You can update the Porting Kit manually using the Porting Kit top bar menu --> "Check for updates".

New Porting Kit! Native games and Origin is back!

VitorMM here, and Porting Kit have support to native games now! What that means? That means that now you will find links to buy native games in our database, so now you can manage ALL your games with the Porting Kit, and not only the ported ones. That will be specially useful when we rally a new feature in Porting Kit, which should be coming soon...

Now about Origin ports: they are back! All Origin port were updated to Paul's newest Origin engine, and now we won't have problems with the latest Origin version. No more update error in the end of the installation, and no errors related to game installations.

With Porting Kit 1.9.115, we also have some bug fixes since 1.9.95, which includes a bug which made Porting Kit incapable of being used by computers with more than one active user. Also, the Ranking tab is now multi-threaded, which means that it won't froze Porting Kit until its content has been loaded.

Many surprises are coming in the next Porting Kit releases (my TODO list already has 12 items), so keep yourself updated. If you want to keep yourself in touch with the latest features, make sure you always update to the latest version. If you only want to access new features when they are completely tested, update only when the latest version is marked as stable, which will be the same version for download here.

Need for Speed Undercover (Origin) for Mac!

As promised another Origin game tonight!  This second one is "Need for Speed Undercover"! Also Need for speed Undercover was already added to paulthetall.com. The game installs fine in Origin altough you might need to restart Origin in order to launch it. In contrary of "Burnout Paradise", login into EA games account ingame does work just fine. Lots of fun is awaiting you!

Install instructions:
Open the Portingkit and download the "Need for Speed Undercover Origin" file and let the Portingkit install Origin. The open Origin and activate the Gamersgate version serial mentioned above. After downloading the game this one stucks at installing (one of the only annoying bugs), but you can easily fix this by quitting Origin (after a few minutes to be sure), and then login again and then you are able to launch the game without problems. BUT, before you launch you have to do one more thing…Go to your preferences of Origin and turn off  “ingame Origin” and “Automatically update the game” (select-box). If you don’t do that, the game will freeze at launch. So make sure this is turned off , also when playing any other game in Origin. Then click play to start (it may ask to update, don’t do that). Have fun!

Burnout Paradise (Origin) for Mac!

A couple more Origin games will follow coming days.  The first one for tonight is "Burnout Paradise"! Burnout Pardise was already added to paulthetall.com, but installation was a headache. With this version that problem is over. The game installs fine altough you might need to restart Origin in order to launch it. Also the ingame login into EA games account takes forever, so it is offline play only I am afraid. But even then there is endless gameplay and fun waiting for you. Laughed my ass out when testing the game, so even more is whished to you ;).

Install instructions:
Open the Portingkit and download the "Burnout Paradise Origin" file and let the Portingkit install Origin. Then click play to start (will ask to update, don’t do that). Have fun!

Origin update/launch failures solved in Portingkit.

Great news! The launch issue after a failing update is solved in the latest Portingkit update (nice work Vitor!). After the latest update of Origin a problem arose that there was an error message after Origin wanted to update the game. The Portingkit update has a workaround implanted that makes Origin start again after installation. It will still give an error message at the end, but after clicking "ok" and launching Origin on the local library tab, the program will launch fine again. Apply the update manually if this didn't happen automatically by the Portingkit itself, by clicking on "Portingkit" in the top bar and click "Check for updates".

For the ones who have an existing Origin Wrapper have to trash the Wrapper and re-download the game in the updated Portingkit. Enjoy!

Need for Speed Shift (Origin) for Mac!

Also Need for speed Shift works awesome in Origin! I can play this game in the highest resolution (1920x1080) with all shadows and environment settings on High if I want (motion blur/bloom excluded), on my AMD Radeon 6770M 512mb and Nvidia 640M. I used the Gamersgate (Origin) version which works out of the box. Simply get the Need for Speed Ultimate Digital Collection which contains 4 NFS games: NFS prostreet, and Need for Speed Undercover and Need for speed Shift + Need for Speed Shift 2! A must have collection for only $29! When not living in the US then get the Gamersgate UK version. Then install NFS Shift into the Portingkit as the video shows and play the game! Have fun!

C&C 3 Tiberian Wars + Kane’s Wrath for Mac!

Oh yeah! C&C 3 Tiberium Wars + Kane's Wrath is an awesome strategy game and it works great in the Portingkit (Origin version of the game). Simply download the Portingkit below and download the “C&C 3 Tiberian Wars + Kane's Wrath” game download button in the Library server tab. This will automatically create the port and including installation of the Windows Origin into that port. Then It will be a matter of login –> download and install the game. I used the Command and Conquer Ultimate Collection version which contains an Origin serial you can add/activate in Origin. If the Gamersgate link says “not priced” (non-US) use this link... Enjoy!

Note:
There are 2 bugs in Origin where you have to to some manual actions.
1. Turn off the “Ingame Origin” + "Automatic game update" in the Origin preferences (select box).
2. Installation won’t end, so if you see “installing” for a few minutes. Quit Origin and Start the game again and the game will launch.

Game description:
Tiberium Wars takes place in the year 2047, at the advent of and during the "Third Tiberium War" when the Brotherhood of Nod launches a worldwide offensive against the Global Defense Initiative, abruptly ending 17 years of silence and temporarily crippling GDI. With the odds tipped in the Brotherhood's favor this time, GDI field commanders rally their troops and begin to combat Nod's second re-emergence, trying to restore lost hope. In the middle of it all, a new playable faction appears: the alien Scrin.

C&C Generals + Zero Hour (Origin) for Mac!

No I am not kidding. It is finally here...C&C Generals and Zero Hour the Origin version using the Command and Conquer Ultimate Collection version of the game (if it says "not priced" use this link...). This collection contains: the whole C&C collection untill C&C 4 Tiberian Twilight. This means 17 Command & Conquer titles! This collection includes also Generals and Zero Hour which can be played in this Origin wrapper. I played as well Generals Campaign as 3 campaign missions in Zero Hour. This Origin version means that no CD's or the First Decade DVD are required anymore to play these games!

Same ingredients are counting here as for Battlefield 1942: activate the C&C Ultimate collection serial mentioned above. Then download the C&C Generals + Zero Hour game. After download this one sticks at installing as well (One of the only annoying bugs), but you can easily fix this by quiting Origin (after a few minutes to be sure), and then login again and then you are able to launch the game without problems. BUT, before you launch you have to do one more thing…Go to your preferences of Origin and turn off  “ingame Origin”. If you don’t do that, the game will freeze at launch. So make sure this is turned off , also when playing any other game in Origin. Then click play to start the fun!!!

Multi-player: Yes, this should be possible. Hook up with a couple of friends in Hamachi and create a LAN game and join each-others multi-player games.
